James Bean and Brian Benson have been liquidating estates since 1991. Both of us are appraisers and Brian is also an auctioneer. During that time, we have held over 700 estate sales. These have ranged from the very small to the very large, all over Oklahoma City and surrounding communities, and we have sold everything from common household furniture, antiques, and appliances, to cars, tools, and farm equipment.

Brian Benson started in the antiques field working for his father. Brian started by learning restoration and grew to buying, selling, and appraising for his fathers company. In 1985, Brian started his own antiques business, and in 1996, began liquidating estates.

James Bean was also raised in the antiques business learning from his mother, who specialized in fine jewelry, costume jewelry, furs, and continental furniture. James earned a degree in fine arts in 1989. In 1991, with the death of his own mother, James began liquidating estates and in 1995, James opened his first store, James Bean Antiques, located at 4207 N Western.

James and Brian became business partners in January 1998. In January 1999, they expanded their antique store and opened Western Avenue Antique Mall located at 5219 N. Western. In November, 2001, James and Brian closed their antique mall to devote their time to liquidating estates.

James passed away in a fire while trying to rescue his dogs and his friends sleeping throughout his home on January 2, 2005. Brian Benson and the rest of the crew have committed to continue the company James founded and to keep the name of James Bean alive. More information about James may be found on the James Bean Memorial page
